Undergrove is a competitive board game that simulates the symbiotic relationship between douglas fir trees and fungi.
The deluxe Kickstarter edition, also known as the Mycologist Edition, delivered with upgraded wood tiles and components. The Mycologist Edition also includes the Whispering Woods micro expansion, featuring 2 additional goal cards and 4 additional mushroom tiles.
Mechanisms include area majority, resource management, tile placement, and engine building.
Players will play mushroom tiles into a common forest, competing to grow their networks and create seedlings. The game was funded on Kickstarter in September 2023 and shipped to American backers in August 2024. Undergrove is published by AEG and designed by Elizabeth Hargrave and Mark Wootton. Illustrations are by Beth Sobel.
