Defenders of the Wild is a cooperative board game in which players take on the roles of anthropomorphic animals engaging in guerilla warfare against rogue machines that are polluting the wilderness.
Mechanics include area majority, hand management, and dice rolling.
Defenders of the Wild feels like a war game, with its hex movement, wall breaching, and dice rolling to determine damage taken. In this war game, however, players cooperate to defeat a common enemy: a faceless industrial complex whose factories and machines pollute the wilderness beyond what’s tolerable.
The game was funded on Kickstarter in September 2023 and shipped to American backers in August 2024. Defenders of the Wild is published by Outlandish Games, and designed by Henry Audubon and T.L. Simons. Illustrations are by Meg Lemieur and T.L. Simons.
